Picture Of Marine Uniform - The Marine Corps changed its decades-old combat uniform to woodland camouflage in the early 2000s after extensive testing and testing. The Marine Corps Combat Uniform entered service in 2002 and incorporated two new distinctive camouflage patterns derived from pixilated' or 'designing'.

A common complaint among Marines was that the exposed buttons were used to secure handcuffs attached to loose objects, such as camouflage netting. The design team first tried to solve the problem by using Velcro to attach the handcuffs to the prototype uniforms. Marines who tested the prototype reported that the handcuffs often loosened during routine training.

The team re-evaluated various design options and developed a 'no jam' cuff. It essentially 'turned the design of the camouflage uniform upside down'. Instead of attaching to one of the three buttonholes found on the cuff flap, the new single button flap is attached to one of the three buttonholes. Once attached, there is less risk of the button coming off as it is now inside the cuff.

Elastic has been added to the opening of the cargo pocket to ensure that items are secure even if the pocket flap is not fastened. This provides the Marine with quick access without worrying about losing items while engaging targets from a hunting position or when engaging an objective in a hurry.

The new cargo pocket is one of the reasons why the new combat uniform won't encourage dry cleaning. Using a steam press on material that has been gathered with elastic will damage the pocket. However, the design overcomes some of the glaring flaws with our current uniforms. The elastic cord tension prevents the pocket from bulging. A permanent press maintains the appearance of pocket flaps and pocket pleats. Hand ironing on low heat, without starch will be allowed.

The left breast pocket of the combat uniform is embroidered with Marine Corps insignia, eliminating the need for Marines to apply decals to the iron. The mark will be centered on the diagonal pocket and parallel to the deck. All sailors serving in Marine Corps units will be authorized to wear the insignia. "U.S. Navy" would distinguish enlisted sailors from marines.

Combat uniforms will have pockets inside the sleeves and pants that can hold pads. Pads will be issued and tested as property of the command organization. The pad reduces injuries during training while allowing Marines to be more aggressive when moving on hard ground, concrete or other similar surfaces.

The addition of shoulder pockets improves the usability of the uniform. All camouflage uniform pockets are covered when the protective vest and waistcoat are worn. The shoulder pockets can be accessed while in full combat gear, even in a prone position. The pocket is large enough to hold frequently needed items such as camouflage paint or notepads.

Some Marines who inspected the uniform noticed that the pocket was covered by the sleeve sleeve when they were in garrison. However, this was corrected when the Marines followed the proper regulations for rolling up their sleeves.

The standard adjustable buckle waistband on the camouflage uniform will be replaced with an elastic waistband on the combat uniform. It will allow for more 'automatic' waist adjustment and provide a wider range of sizes to allow for an additional layer of clothing such as new polypropylene or wool clothing.

Elastic waistbands are another reason why combat dry cleaning facilities would be discouraged. Like a cargo pocket, the elastic material gathers at the waist, which will be damaged by vapor compression.

Single pleats for the pants have been added on either side of the waist to increase the space around the hips, seat and thighs. This extra volume provides greater comfort for the wearer and also improves overall stability by reducing material stretch against the body. Constant pressure follows the pleats along and below the pant crease at the front of each leg.
